After visiting a typical restaurant, the same set of starters and desserts often leaves one with disappointment. Sometimes, you might even end up driving all the way to another restaurant after a meal, just so that you can have a dessert of your liking! Moreover, most of the restaurants stick to indo-chinese cuisine and your options become pretty standard.

Now, what if I tell you that you can have starters from one cuisine, main course from another and dessert from a completely different one! Wouldn’t that be an exciting proposition? That’s what I got to experience at OMR Food Street this weekend.

I decided to stop by at three different outlets to try three completely different dishes and make a meal out of it!

First Stop: Chicken Trio Pizza, Long Live Pizza.

Although Pizza is technically not a starter, this is what I decided to go with. Chicken Trio has three different chicken toppings such as the BBQ Chicken, Peri Peri Chicken and Schezwan Chicken making it a chicken lover’s dream pizza. It was loaded with chunks of juicy chicken and oodles of cheese making ever bite savoury.

Although the pizza doesn’t have the best of the crusts compared to the other popular American style pizza joints, it definitely makes up for it in all the other departments! So happy I skipped starter for a Pizza.

Second Stop: 20/20 with Roti, Egg Raja

I am very sure you could not figure out what dish I am talking about from the name or the picture below. That’s the selling point of this new and creative outlet. I had a tough time figuring out what type of dish it was! I gave up quite soon and ended up asking the chef himself.

Egg Raja serves a fusion cuisine that gives a southern twist to Gujarati food. The soft rotis served as a unique and satisfying companion to the gravy. The gravy itself had two different flavours and is served with egg. This place definitely left me craving for more!

Final Stop: Jughead Special, Oasis Cool Inn

What better way to end the evening than with a good cool milkshake? Although this milkshake shares its name with a popular milkshake by ‘Fruit Shop at Greams Road’, it definitely is its own thing.

The Jughead Special here at Oasis is made with a unique combination of Mango, Vanilla, and Plums. The subtle flavours of Mango and Vanilla interspersed with pieces of plum come together in this thick shake and makes this one to die for! A definite high note to end my day on.

This quote pretty much sums up my experience today at OMR Food Street:

“The essence of beauty is unity in variety”

Indulgence of any meal depends immensely on the ingredients it is cooked with. The right choice and use of ingredients can make a dish bland or just right or a disaster. The perfect ‘eating-out’ experience is like cooking a meal. It’s about bringing various elements together and making them feel a part of a single unit. At OMR Food Street, one experiences just that, different cuisines, cultures and people intersecting to create a unique yet unified experience.
